Drove from Nyngan to Narrabri today. Followed the heavy clouds all the way but didn't actually drive through much rain. Staying at Edgeroi, with friends, John & Beve A, tonight & sleeping in bed inside for first time in about 7 weeks! John A & John T have known each other since they were kids & John A was Groomsman at our wedding, so it was nice to catch up again. Beve was away in Sydney helping their youngest daughter with her new baby, so didn't get to see her this time. They are currently growing wheat, chickpeas & oats & are hoping they don't get too much more rain before the rapidly aproaching harvest. Just too wet to drive around, let alone get harvest machinery on to paddocks.
John A phoned us this morning to say it was raining heavily in Edgeroi & he didn't think we would get down their driveway, slippery black soil clay. Checked with him again from Narrabri, hadn't rained for couple of hours, so he thought we would be OK if we used 4WD & took it slowly! It was pretty slippery & the car & van are very muddy! Should have taken photos!
Leave here tomorrow for the second last day of our long drive home. My 'Driver' is not quite sure which way we will go from here but will be somewhere in Queensland tomorrow night!
